Mitt Romney held a campaign event
on the grounds of Solyndra, the failed solar company that benefited from more
than $500 million dollars in federal loan guarantees. Republicans are using Solyndra as an example
of government ineptness and corruption when it interferes with free enterprise,
with special reference to the Obama administration, which approved the loans
and expressed enthusiasm for the company.
What they don’t mention is that the loans to Solyndra were initiated
during the Bush administration and that the Bush team pushed hard to have the
loan conditionally approved before Obama took office. Full details and a timeline of the events
surrounding the Solyndra controversy can be found here.
To be sung to the tune of the Louis
Jordan classic, Caldonia. You can
hear/see Caldonia on YouTube.
Talkin bout Solyndra, it got a great big loan
It’s big, bad and sleazy and they surely shoulda known
It’s their comp’ny but I love it just the same
