Today
the Supreme Court upheld the most of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), including
the much debated individual mandate. The
majority opinion was written by Chief Justice John Roberts; this was a big surprise since most observers
had written him off as being opposed to the measure. Justice Kennedy, thought be many to be the
swing vote on this decision, had voted to declare the law unconstitutional,
stating that “In our view, the entire Act before us is invalid in its
entirety.”
