The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Now you can also follow Doggerelo on Twitter (@doggerelo). Because of continuing medical problems, I'm no longer able to post a poem-a-day. I'll continue to post poems, but at a reduced frequency, so please stay tuned.

Another False Accusation from the Romney Camp

Noam Scheiber, the author of a book, The Escape Artists, on Obama’s policy strategies, accused Mitt Romney of misrepresenting Obama’s actions in pushing for the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). As detailed in the TPM post

On Wednesday Romney claimed that President Obama and his aides believed the health care reform law would harm the recovery but pushed for it anyway, and sourced the argument to Scheiber’s book. But the claim is not true.

Noam Scheiber said “That is false, in a variety of ways… it’s not something that they [the Obama team] felt, and it’s not something I argue in the book.”

Mitt Romney quotes a book to say
Obama pushed the ACA
While knowing that it would derail
Th’economy that was so frail.
But the claim he makes will likely fall flat
‘Cause the book he quotes had never said that.
