The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Now you can also follow Doggerelo on Twitter (@doggerelo). Because of continuing medical problems, I'm no longer able to post a poem-a-day. I'll continue to post poems, but at a reduced frequency, so please stay tuned.

The GOP's Obamacare
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court
decision, Republican leaders have howled for the repeal of Affordable Care Act
(Obamacare) and its replacement by a plan that sounds suspiciously like ...um, Obamacare. On this topic, Representative Phil Roe (R-TN)
says, “It would be hard to write a 2,700-page bill and not have something in
there that you like.” This post from
ThinkProgress provides a useful compendium of Republican statements on the good
bits in the ACA. We're still waiting for a realistic Republican proposal
regarding Obamacare's replacement.
Let's repeal the ACA
Replace it with another way
For folks to get the things they like
That won't require a taxation hike.
The ACA is real unsavory
Concocted by the left-wing's knavery
'Though everyone by now admits
The plan's an awful lot like Mitt's.
We'll keep what's good in our proposal
And throw the rest in the disposal
But what we've had thus far to say
Looks mostly like the ACA.
So what's our
plan in this debate?
