The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Now you can also follow Doggerelo on Twitter (@doggerelo). Because of continuing medical problems, I'm no longer able to post a poem-a-day. I'll continue to post poems, but at a reduced frequency, so please stay tuned.

Loose Lips

Hilary Rosen, a Democratic strategist, suggested that it was inappropriate for Ann Romney to advise her husband on women’s issues because she "has actually never worked a day in her life". This comment, for which Ms. Rosen has apologized, has been a gift to the GOP, who have criticized both Ms. Rosen’s comment as well as the reaction of the Obama campaign, which has "been so willing and so quick to throw one of their own under the bus."

Ms Rosen’s embarrassing gaffe
Outraged Mr. Romney’s staff
She said with aplomb,
“Ann’s a stay-at-home Mom
Her comments on work are a laugh.”

Ann Romney is fit to be tied
Try raising 5 boys, she replied,
You’ll see that it’s work
It will drive you berserk
It’s not something that you should deride.

Here’s an issue the Dems cannot win
No matter what spin they begin
An old adage maintains
“Loose lips sink campaigns”,
The Democrats note with chagrin.
