The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Game On!


The general election campaign
Is well under way once again.
The contest will pit
Obama ‘gainst Mitt.
Super Pacs will be given free rein.

Mitt says I’m a strong business type,
I know the economy’s ripe
For a growth spurt to flair
If we just laissez faire
It’s the usual GOP tripe.

Obama says Mitt’s been allyin’
With a radical view that’s decryin’
The government’s lead
To help folks in need -
Mitt’s joined at the hip to Paul Ryan.
