The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Allen West and The Communist Menace

Representative Allen West, R-FL, said at a town meeting on Tuesday, ” I believe there's about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party.”  He was referring to members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.  Does anyone other than Allen West think that channeling Joe McCarthy is an appropriate response to today’s problems?

Allen West sees lots of commies
In the Congress of today
It’s another firebomb he’s
Throwing out like a bouquet.

Allen West is just deluded -
Words of his are so excessive -
Saying Communists included
Congressmen who are progressive.

He must think it’s 1950
Marxists then were our bête noir
Let’s give Allen West short shrifty -
Flush his charges down the pissoir.
