The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. The Conventional Donald

Donald Trump is fishing for a speaking role at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in August.  A Trump spokesman said, ”Mr. Trump’s massive popularity is just one of the many reasons he is being sought as a keynote speaker at the Tampa RNC Convention,”  And The Donald himself tweeted “Hmmm...can you imagine me speaking at the RNC Convention in Tampa? That's a speech everyone would watch.”  You bet.

The Donald says he’d like to speak.
His talk would surely be unique.
He’d doubtless blow his birther horn
And question where the Pres was born.
He’d note our economic slump
But he’d talk more ‘bout Donald Trump.
