The poet William Stafford set himself the task of writing a poem a day. When someone asked him what he would do when his poem-of-the-day wasn't very good, he replied "I simply lower my standards." In order to increase output, the bar here is set at a low level - the point of this is to have some fun with current events and politics. I welcome contributions and comments. Now you can also follow Doggerelo on Twitter (@doggerelo). Because of continuing medical problems, I'm no longer able to post a poem-a-day. I'll continue to post poems, but at a reduced frequency, so please stay tuned.

Making Up Stuff

Jennifer Rubin, the right-wing blogger writing for the Washington Post, recently claimed, in a post entitled “How to counterattack Obama”, that  this is the President “…who wanted to force a mosque on the ashes of Ground Zero, despite the revulsion of New Yorkers.”  That’s not how most people remember Obama’s input on the Ground Zero mosque controversy. Unfortunately for Ms. Rubin’s story line, this is also the President who said, “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there.” So what the hell is she talking about? Why worry about evidence when it’s so much easier just to make stuff up.

Now Rubin’s a blogger who writes for the Post
She really loves Mitt, she loves him the most
And as for Obama, he makes her so mad
That she will say anything to make him look bad.
She’s very creative when she wants to be
The facts don’t restrain her to any degree
So she just makes stuff up whenever she can
The truth doesn’t matter, she’ll get her man.
There’s one little thing that bothers me most
Who the hell hired her at the Post?
